QUALITIES: hydrolats are the product of the distillation of essential oils, however they are valuable therapeutic products in their own right they contain some of the water soluble properties of the plant.

Excellent tonic and skin toner, especially for sensitive and delicate skin. It has a surprising warm honey-like aroma. We recommend misting your face with this hydrolat before applying our moisturising cream.

Excellent in steam irons for refreshing clothes.

Having antiseptic qualities it is excellent for caring for blemished or oily skin, as it is also an astringent. Try adding to Kobashi soap base for a 'Teenage' face wash.

The herb itself has a history dating back to Achilles (hence the latin name) who is reputed to have used it for wound healing, a reputation it has preserved through the centuries, it is locally known as 'soldiers wound wort'. When grown in England on our rich Fenland soils this plant produces a beautiful oil. Yarrow produces one and a half to two kilos per acre.

A member of the Asteraceae family, it is a perennial with a single stem growing up to one metre high, with fine feathery leaves and lace like clusters of pink white flowers. Native to Eurasia, but found in many parts of the world.

Please note our products are natural and are filtered, but there is sometimes plant material in the final product.

Best kept refrigerated after opening & used within 2 months.

Everyone has to understand that, although they are distilled and free of bacteria and molds at the onset, they are waters.

If you open a bottle of water what will it do? Just by breathing on it or a floating speck of dust entering it mold can start growing.

Say someone coughs, sneezes, particle of dust or dirt floats in when open, it's now contaminated. We have no control of this.

All our products are of equal quality. We purchase the best we can find.

Only issue we ever had with hydrolat is occasional leaking. This can happen if plane pressure at high altitudes. It is rare but can happen. Usually only a few ml could seep out.

They last longer in fridge.

All in all we are overly cautious with hydrolats because they are water.

Rose water last the longest because of it's natural ethanol content, which has a preservative effect. Chamomile, Melissa and Yarrow waters have been known to go off quicker.

The only way around this is to put a low open cap PAO or add a full spectrum preservative.

So would you like us to add preservatives? What preservatives would you like us to add?

We don't add preservatives, so these will be needed to increase shelf life: food grade sources: 0.1% Citric Acid (oxidation inhibitor), 0.1% Potassium Sorbate (mold inhibitor). 0.1% Sodium Benzoate (bacteria inhibitor).
